Darrius Snow

At the end of the day, FIFTEEN hopes to provide one thing to students engaged in their programs, and one thing very strategically: opportunity. Not too many other students have had opportunities like Darius Snow. Born to a mother who struggled with drug problems who abandoned him at the age of two and growing up in the projects of Atlanta, Darius overcame various obstacles to be where he is today. He is the first in his family to graduate from high school and attend college. Nominated by Essential2life and picked by basketball superstar LeBron James for the Nickelodeon Halo Awards as a major proponent for helping and leading others, Darius has continued leading in various arenas in life. From after school programs for kids, having his own radio show, and received his MBA from Alabama A&M in the spring of 2015, Darius is leading and creating opportunities for others.

Fifteen Alum | Voorhees College & University of Alabama A&M

Born to a mother who struggled with drug problems who abandoned me at the age of two and growing up in the projects of Atlanta, I overcame various obstacles to be where I am today. After my mother abandoned me, I was adopted by my oldest cousin, who dropped out of school in the seventh grade. In 2009 I was the first to graduate from high school,  FIFTEEN leadership was instrumental in helping me with decisions I made throughout high school and also guiding me through the process of applying to college.  While a part of the FIFTEEN leadership program, E2L nominated me for the Nickelodeon HALO Award, of which I was one of the first 4 recipients.  I received $10,000 toward my college tuition and also $10,000 to help me continue an after-school program working with and mentoring students.

Throughout my years at Voorhees College I have accomplished many things, from making the Deans List 4 straight years, winning first place in the KENO Foundation Business Plan Competition, Honors College and many more accomplishments. In 2012 I was given a chance to host my own Radio Show "The Darrius Snow Show" where I spoke and interviewed other students on issues such as peer pressure, bullying, relationships, and conflict resolutions. Through this radio show and my professors on campus, I was able to overcome a speech impediment.  On May 4th, 2013 I also became the first to graduate college Cum Laude with a degree in Business Administration with a concentration in Finance. I can say that one of the driving forces in helping me to accomplish my dreams has been the FIFTEEN Program and the leadership at E2L.
